Alessandro Gaj

Lecturer at European School of Economics since 2010, is subject leader for the courses: Research Methods for Social Sciences (BSc), Human Resource Management (MSc) and Entrepreneurship (MBA).

Graduated at Bergamo University in 1996 with a dissertation on Labour adjustment costs and firm's financial structure. Has completed his academic training at Glasgow University where has obtained his MSc in Economics. Has 10 years of experience in research and teaching activity both at Italian and British universities among which Stirling University, Bergamo University and Catholic University of Sacred Hearth of Milan.

Research interests focus on the relationship between firm's organizational design, human resources management, development of employee competences and firm's performance. Of particular interest are learning and knowledge theories, furthermore how firms can take advantage from knowledge creation and improved learning skill of its employees.

Has been coordinator of international projects for public and private institutions and associations, among which Lombardy Region, Province of Bergamo and the Association of SME firms. Generally these projects aimed at the analysis, development and evaluation of active labour market policies, gender policies and in general at the analysis of local and national labour markets. Is author and co-author in books and peer reviewed journals, has presented own works in international conferences and seminars. Is member of the Italian Labour Economists Association and the Association for the Development of Bank and Stock Exchange Studies.
