Aroop K. Mahanty completed his B.S. in Engineering Statistics from the University of Wyoming in 1967, M.A. in Economics & Business at Colorado State College in 1969, and PhD in Economics from Colorado State University 1974. Mahatany has extensive lecturing experience and specialised in the areas of Decision Techniques, Managing Operations, Risk Management, Investment Techniques, International Financial management, and Innovation and Development Management. From 1976 to 1979 he was an Adjunct Professor with Pepperdine University School of Professional Studies; from 1970 to 1982 a Professor of Economics with the University of N. Colorado; from 1982 to 1987 with Boston University Overseas Graduate Programme; as a visiting professor from 1987 to 1991 with the Loyola University of Chicago, Xavier Institute of Labor Relations, University U.S. Virgin Islands; from 1991 to 1993 as a consultant with the Syntex Corporation (USA); from 1993 to 2003 as a Professor of Economics with the American University in Rome; and at present a professor of Business and Economics with the University of Maryland, Europe and Temple University Rome. He has also authored several texts and short papers in economics.
