The pinnacle of a civilisation is reflected on the canvases of its paintings and embodied in its sculptures and monuments. The breath of its highest achievements can not only be seen, and aspired towards, but also salvaged and appreciated through proper conservation and management. The billions of Euros managed for this very purpose are of global importance not only from an economic standpoint, but also from a moral one and thus the increasing importance of the arts and cultural management industries.
The Certificate in Art Management covers various types of art facilities and resources such as museums, galleries, theatres and historical attractions in their relationship to cultural events and activities and their management.
The certificate in Art management begins from a cultural management standpoint aiming to prepare international leaders in this field with a business oriented approach. The certificate course also provides students with the possibility of gaining first-hand experience with its ‘Aria Art Gallery’, located adjacent to the ESE Florence centre (www.ariaartgallery.com). Art Management students will have the opportunity to see and participate in exhibitions and events throughout the duration of the course.
The certificate comprises 4 modules. Each module entails one 3 hours session per week over 12 weeks, either day or evening study. Total classroom time of 36 hours per module.
Internship (Optional): 3-month placement after the ending of 4 modules.
The course is delivered through a series of tutorials and seminars including case studies. Assessment is through a group project and presentation, an individual essay and a final exam. Participants are expected to undertake at least two hours per week of independent study. Upon successful completion of the four modules, students are awarded an ESE certificate. Modules may also be taken independently.
