'Workshadowing' defines the learning experience of students who observe industry professionals in their day-to-day job, to gain an understanding of the work reality in a business environment.
The initiative, organised by the British Council School, was founded in 2009 and is based on well-established practice in the UK and USA. Due to its success in Spain, which has seen an increase in interest since its inauguration, the project will continue into 2012.
On June 21st 2011, ESE Madrid invited Evana Fernandez Bevan, a participant in the programme to experience 'A Day in the Work of ESE', to shadow the professional activity of the campus to gain first-hand experience of work within the academic sector.
The goal of the experience was to demonstrate to Evana the working day behind the scenes of an international campus, helping her to understand the many communication, administration and organisation skills most needed in the education sector. ESE's involvement in the scheme also highlighted to Evana the importance of the school's educational philosophy in which to guide students to the fulfillment of their professional dreams through a robust academic and pragmatic programme of study.
Melissa Freites, Head of Communications and Marketing at ESE Madrid commented, "The scheme is an interesting and enriching experience, not only for the young participants but also for the members of staff who were involved, who were delighted by Evana's enthusiasm and happy to share their professional knowledge."
ESE Madrid has confirmed their commitment to the project for 2012.
