ESE New York Makes A Dream Come True with Versace Internship

"A frantic lively city and a fascinating and stimulating job: I'm having a fantastic time, and not even in my wildest dreams would I have imagined to have achieved it at 23 years old".

That is how Michela Gombacci, a young Triestian employed in the publicity and events department of Versace in New York, described her life. After getting her degree in Political Science at the University of Trieste, Michela decided to attend the European School of Economics in the Big Apple. "I enrolled in the "Certificate Program in Fashion & Luxury Goods Management" which included classes, workshops and various projects, as well as an internship in the fashion industry. I was looking for an international environment, but I found much, much more. I took various classes, from fashion marketing management to one about major events. And the American approach - she stressed - is much more practical than the European one. The lessons were hardly ever just theory: it was about developing projects, both in groups and individually, and making presentations."

It was thanks to the institute's contacts that Michela got an interview a few months ago with Versace's marketing-events department and was successful in getting her current job. "A unique possibility. In the company's corporate office we are all young, which means that the United States is a country that continues to invest in the new generations, something that in Italy rarely happens." "Right from the beginning," she said, "I was involved in various areas of the label: I did the inventory for the Versace's latest spring collection; I attended a meeting with managers, stylists, photographers and models; and I attended an important photo-shoot, Versace's first in the USA. Every day I cover various roles," continues Michela, "that range from reviewing the papers, to booking models for future photo-shoots, to presenting marketing plans, to sending and delivering outfits to the USA or to Europe, to planning media relations and the insertion (publishing) of advertisements in various magazines like Vogue or Elle".

Michela's wish is to give it her all, in order to grow within the sector. "It is an experience that surprises me every day. When I think back I realise that I made the right choice, New York was the source of my choice because I love this city, but it is this metropolis that makes my job special. It is not just the multicultural environment, opportunities, hopes and variety of things to do, it is the air that you breathe walking through the streets, the awareness," concludes Michela, "that we are all here to try to realise a dream".

Economy is a Way of Dreaming

Economy is a Way of Dreaming

While changes in man’s psychology are slowly taking place, becoming simpler and lighter, the frontiers of the economy are changing accordingly, moving towards new spheres, towards the emerging industries of entertainment, art, fashion, music and sport. There is no conquest of man, be it economic, social or scientific that has not been preceded by an inner conquest. The scientific knowledge of a nation, as so its prosperity and the maturity of its institutions are the reflection of its level of being, of the extension of its ideas, of the wealth of its values, of the strength and nature of its convictions.

Behind the values of a man lies his ‘dream’. A man that has no ‘dream’ is destined to decay under the weight of social conflicts and of economic crisis.
It can remove the historic poverty of nations and entire civilizations, and it can convey eras of war and fear towards peace.
A new species, completely transformed is about to appear on the scene. A new man, the “vertical man” is the man that has broken the psychological vortex and the old ways of thinking that have imprisoned the old humanity. The new man has a complete psychology, free from conflicts and that does not see only through opposites but sees reality made up of different layers, the levels of being.

Our civilization like a starship sent into space, travels towards, a society of being where the value of ideas and the creativity in thinking prevail over action. The next psychological revolution will produce the shift to a more evolved economy, more subtle and intelligent, to a more efficient, idealistic and concrete capitalism, at the service of life on earth and of the evolution of man.

In this economy individuals inspired by an “ethical objectiveness” will emerge, cells of a new humanity, capable of nurturing the dream of a global economy and of a politics of a planetary responsibility, people aware that individual, personal improvement is the base for every progress made in society.

ESE has the ‘dream’ of a happy and free humanity, of a truly rich economy. It is not the resources of the planet that are limited, but humanity itself - its limited vision and incomplete psychology keep it from extending wellbeing to every individual, organization, culture and civilization .

The mission of ESE is the preparation of a new generation of leaders: visionaries, concrete philosophers. pragmatic dreamers, equipped with a more complete psychology, capable of harmonizing the apparent antagonisms (of all times): ethics and economics, action and contemplation, financial power and love.

President Elio D’Anna

Meet with ESE President & Founder - Elio D'Anna - President and Founder of The European School of Economics and author of The School for Gods - Thursday 8th Decmber, 3pm - 4pm at ESE London.

Aria Art Gallery Presents Luciana Matalon and the 'Origin of Form'

The eclectic and multifaceted artist, Luciana Matalon, has chosen the prestigious Aria Art Gallery in the exclusive and refined ambience of Florence, to conclude her tour that has been received to great public acclaim.

The exhibition, entitled ‘The Origin of Form’ has been curated by Prof. Vittorio Sgarbi and organised by the Aria Gallery of Antonio Budetta with the direction of Federica Cirri, Salvo Nugnes of Promoter Arte and in collaboration with The European School of Economics.

The artistic voyage of Matalon is characterised by an extremely rich and assorted production, which evidently displays elegance, lightness and grace in its style. The works of Matalon are the result of an intense and profound reflection on the unconscious, intuitive and instinctive levels. Her works lay down the confines between the figure and abstraction, demonstrating a constant tension towards the search for the origin, in which she indicates the importance of recollecting from lost ancient civilisations and of celestial depth: the mystery they have in common evokes through the artist the principle archetypes of our imagination and of our cultural history.

Matalon emerges, not only because of her gifted technical and instrumental capacity, but also for the dreamlike vibrations and poetic obscurity that transmit in the dignified and pure forms of her celebrated art.

The inauguration is by R.S.V.P only on Friday 2nd December 2011 and will be held in the presence of Prof. Vittorio Sgarbi, and attended by notable authorities, leading figures, journalists and media.

The exhibition will be open for public viewing from 3rd December - 8th January 2012.

ESE delivers results through specialised training in a range of cutting-edge business sectors and a tailor-made internship programme to test individual career plans to guide them to the discovery and the realization of their professional dreams from the entry level and development to advancement and goal realization.

The school's campuses in London, New York, Milan, Florence, Rome and Madrid have a weekly open day for prospective students who want to experience a new concept in higher education. One that aims to prepare international entrepreneurs & managers with the cultural awareness, abilities & moral qualities most needed in the world of contemporary business.

Those of you who are thinking about Undergraduate or Postgraduate study or a Short Course Certificate are welcome to come along and have a chat with the admission staff and faculty to discuss your academic career path in more detail and how an ESE education can make all the difference.

Aria Art Gallery Florence Presents Brooklyn Bridge? As Never Seen Before

The Aria Art Gallery, in Collaboration with the European School of Economics and the Patronage of the Comune of Firenze presents -

Brooklyn Bridge - As Never Seen Before

Large Scale Black and White Photographs

	by BURHAN DOGANÇAY

	September 30th – November 27, 2011
Opening Thursday September 29th at 18.30

To celebrate the «Vespucciano» Year, Aria Art Gallery Florence presents Brooklyn Bridge—As Never Seen Before, a solo exhibition by Burhan Dogançay, featuring photographs that are acclaimed as one of the most sustained and serious artistic responses to the Brooklyn Bridge in our time.

This is the first exhibition of Dogançay’s magical images—portraits of one of the most important American icons—outside of the U.S.A. Dogançay was the only photographer permitted to shoot from the top of the Bridge, while its hundred-year-old metal structure, shrouded with safety nets, was undergoing total restoration during 1986-87.

Phillip Lopate wrote about those nets in Bridge of Dreams (Hudson Hills Press, 1999) that featured Dogançay’s images: “They appear to double the famous webbing effect of diagonal stays crisscrossed with cable wire. The Bridge, like a bride or widow, wears a veil over its face. In some of the photographs, the Bridge resembles a fishing village, its nets hung out to dry; in others, the columns look like masts on sailing boats. The nets’ overall effect is to offer some mediation: a screen between everyday life and another reality that may lie just beyond.”

Dogançay’s Brooklyn Bridge series was first introduced at the Houston Fotofest ’96. In 1997, Baldev Duggal, owner of a leading New York photo lab, made state-of-the-art oversized enlargements, printed them on various materials, including glass and copper, and exhibited them in the company’s Broadway gallery as Brooklyn Bridge As Never Seen Before. The exhibition then continued for two years more in the International Arrivals Building at New York’s JFK Airport. Finally, real estate developers of the Brooklyn waterfront, Jane and David Walentas, purchased that entire exhibition to adorn their buildings’ foyers.

Photographs from the Bridge series may be found in numerous private and public collections, including: The Cleveland Museum of Art, OH; Fotomuseum Winterthur, Switzerland; Istanbul Modern, Turkey; Museum of the City of New York, NY; The Museum of Fine Arts Houston, TX; and the Whitney Museum of American Art, New York.
