The event industry is a complex, growing and strongly competitive line of business. Becoming a leader in this fast evolving trade requires individuals to possess an extended array of managerial skills, a high degree of strategic planning capabilities, assertive interpersonal communication abilities and a resourceful mind to achieve the desired goals by implementing objective-led ideas.
The global event management industry generates revenues of hundreds of billions of pounds each year. This is a worldwide fragmented business where trade shows, conferences, promotional fairs, celebrations and entertainment events comprise a huge segment of this industry, is expected to maintain an international steady growth rate.
The event management industry is fast-paced and very competitive, particularly in Europe where the public requires a highly trained and professionalized workforce to satisfy the increasing demand for specialised services to meet the latest market trends.
Socio-cultural and eco trends demand the incorporation of the principles of sustainability into the strategic planning of events. Sustainable event management involves creating a harmonious balance between the financial objectives of the event, the environmental impact of all conducted activities and the social enhancement of all stakeholders involved. Through internationally accepted certification standards and regulations, sustainability is now becoming a crucial aspect of successful event planning and in the near future it will become the accepted norm to generate long-term value.
The ESE Post Graduate Certificate in Sustainable Event Management equips students with the right combination of practical knowledge supported by theoretical foundations to become the next generation of major event organisers, proactive leaders in this field of business. The programme offers a valuable insight into the field of sustainability within the event industry, providing unique and innovative concepts that set participants aside from the rest of the increasingly professionally prepared workforce in the market. This grants a unique competitive advantage to those who successfully complete the programme.
